Originally this event was won by SVK (458.5 points) with AUT in second place (458 points). However, at the end of November 2015, it emerged that Dmitri Marşin (AZE) tested positive for doping on 29 May 2015, which led to his disqualification from the hammer throw event. This gave AUT one extra point because Benjamin Siart (AUT) was originally placed behind Marşin. With the new overall standings, AUT (460 points) and SVK (459.5 points) gold went to AUT.
In early February 2022 it emerged that Elisabeth Niedereder (AUT) was found guilty for doping and all her results beginning 15 May 2015 were annulled. AUT lost 11 points, while SVK earned one extra point. With the new overall standings, SVK (460.5 points) and AUT (449 points), gold went back to SVK.
